Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has also come to India in the delegation accompanying Russian President Vladimir Putin. Sources said that there will be an important meeting between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Belousov in South Block at 5 pm. In this meeting between Rajnath and Belousov, there will be high-level discussions on defense cooperation between the two countries. In this, air defence, military technical cooperation and future joint projects will be discussed in detail. India is keen to purchase more consignments of S-400 air defense system.
Sources said that during this period talks can also be held on S-500. If talks are held on S-500, this deal can change the geopolitical picture of South Asia. With this, India will gain a decisive strategic advantage over China and Pakistan. Before meeting Rajnath, Belousov will be saluted by a joint contingent of all three parts of the army. Belousov is an economist. Belousov is credited with keeping Russia’s economy on track despite all the sanctions from Western countries and the long war with Ukraine.
Was effective in Operation Sindoor
In Operation Sindoor against Pakistan in May, S-400 shot down several Pakistani fighter planes within hundreds of kilometers. With this, the S-400 emerged as the backbone of the country’s integrated air defense structure. Seeing this, India wants to buy more S-400. In the rapidly changing regional security environment, it is very important for India to improve its air defense system.
S-400 on the agenda
The most important aspect of the meeting will be the S-400 air defense system. India had signed a deal for five S-400 regiments with Russia in 2018. India has three of these regiments. The remaining two are likely to be found by 2026. There will be talks between Rajnath and Belousov on the deadline for the remaining consignment. There will also be talks on joint defense production under Make in India, cooperation on future advanced systems and long-term strategic cooperation. Apart from this, India is willing to buy five more S-400 systems from Russia. This deal may be sealed during Putin’s visit. There can also be talks on indigenous manufacturing of missiles used in the S-400 system.
S-500 will change the picture
The two defense ministers are also likely to discuss the purchase of the S-500, an upgraded version of the S-400. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said at the Dubai Airshow that Russia could also hold talks on the S-500 with strategic partner countries that operate the S-400. This signal was towards India.

The S-500 can also target hypersonic missiles and targets in outer space. This will increase India’s capability against China’s ballistic missiles.
