In the second T20 against Australia, the Indian team, batting first, collapsed for 125 runs, a major reason for this was the fall of 4 wickets in the powerplay. Josh Hazlewood alone took 3 wickets in the powerplay, who gave only 13 runs in his spell of 4 overs. Australia won this match by 4 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the 5-match series. When Abhishek Sharma, who came to the press conference after the match, came to know that Hazlewood will no longer play in this series, he was shocked.
Except Abhishek Sharma and Harshit Rana, no other Indian batsman could touch double figures in the second T20. While every batsman seemed to be in trouble against the Australian bowlers, Abhishek was scoring runs at a strike rate close to 200. Abhishek scored 68 runs in 37 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Regarding Josh Hazlewood, Abhishek Sharma said in the press conference after the match, “I have been watching him since the ODI series, I knew that he would challenge us. The way he was bowling today, it was difficult to play in front of him. I wanted to dominate him, but he had his own plans which he was adopting well. For me too, this Spain in front of him was new.”
Josh Hazlewood will not play the next 3 matches
Meanwhile, when the journalist informed him that Josh Hazlewood will not play in the next 3 T20s against India, he was shocked and said, “Is it so? I don’t know but if it is so then it will be a relief. I know that he is a bowler of all three formats. As a batsman, you have to learn to face the best bowlers of the world and this is what I am trying to do.”
Abhishek Sharma got absolute donuts out of Travis Head, but his reaction to finding out Josh Hazlewood wasn’t playing the rest of this series was priceless ➡️ #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/mMaz0fAnQN
