Alima Khanum said that Munir wants to fight people who do not believe in Islam.
Alima Khanum, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, described Army Chief Asim Munir as an Islamic fundamentalist and conservative. He said in an interview to Sky News on Wednesday that Munir wants to fight people who do not believe in Islam.
When Alima was asked about the India-Pakistan conflict in May, she directly blamed Asim Munir. He said that Munir wants to go to war with India because of his fundamentalist thinking.
Alima described her brother Imran Khan as liberal. He said that when Imran Khan came to power, he tried to improve relations with India and even BJP. Whereas Munir creates an atmosphere of tension and war on the border, which affects India and its allies.
Alima said- Imran is an asset for Pakistan
Aleema Khanum claims that Imran represents 90% of the people of Pakistan, hence by isolating him, Shahbaz Sharif’s government is oppressing the people of Pakistan.
Describing Imran Khan as an ‘asset’ for Pakistan, Alima has appealed to the western countries to extend help for his release. Imran is lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since 2023 in a corruption case.
Imran meets family after 27 days
Imran met his wife Uzma Khan yesterday. Imran was not met by any family member after 27 days. Earlier, he had met his sister Naureen Khan on 5 November. Last Tuesday, Imran Khan’s supporters and family members had come to meet him, but the jail administration did not allow them.
After this the rumor spread that Imran had died and the Pakistan government was hiding it. There was a big demonstration in Pakistan regarding this, in view of which a high alert was issued from Rawalpindi to Islamabad.

Old fight between Imran Khan and Asim Munir
Asim Munir was the head of Pakistan’s secret agency ISI during the government of Imran Khan. Till 2018, Munir’s army career was going great. In March, he was given Pakistan’s second highest civilian award ‘Hilal-e-Imtiaz’.
On 25 October 2018, he was made the DG of ISI, but just 8 months later in June 2019, he was removed and Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was made the new DG of ISI in his place. Munir was posted as commander in XXX Corps in Gujranwala.
For the first time, a DG was removed from the post in such a short time, the reason for this was Munir’s fight with Imran Khan. Actually, Pak Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa was close to Imran. Army and ISI officers in Pakistan have a long history of corruption.
Media reports claimed that Munir had exposed a corruption case of Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi. Therefore, at the behest of Imran Khan, Bajwa had shown Munir the way out of ISI.
However, Imran Khan later denied this and said, ‘This is completely false. Neither did General Asim give me any evidence of my wife’s corruption nor did I force him to resign because of this.

Imran removed from the post of PM, Munir became Army Chief
After being the Corps Commander, Munir was the Quartermaster General from January 2021 to November 2022. An officer of this rank looks after the logistics, equipment and other preparations for the army. Coming here from ISI Chief was a demotion for Munir.
Imran Khan was removed from the post of PM by bringing a no-confidence motion on 10 April 2022. Even before this he had left the PM House. The next day, Nawaz’s younger brother Shahbaz Sharif became PM. Munir is close to Shahbaz.
Munir was to retire from the Army on 27 November 2022, but Shahbaz Sharif wanted to make him the Army Chief. He sent Munir’s nomination to President Arif Alvi on 24 November, which Alvi approved the same day. On 29 November 2022, Bajwa was removed and Munir was made the new Chief of the Pakistan Army. Munir will now continue on this post till 2027.
