Fastest internet speed: In today’s digital age, internet speed has become the measure of technical growth of any country. Most of us believe that big countries like America or India will provide the fastest internet services. But the reality is quite different from this. A recently released global report said that the country with the fastest internet speed in the world is neither America nor India nor Pakistan.

So who is that country?

According to Speedtest Global Index reports, on average internet speed in UAE till April 2025, the internet speed remained around 442 Mbps, the most worldwide. After this, countries like Qatar and Hong Kong have made it to the top-5. India’s average mobile internet speed is around 54 Mbps and fixed broadband speed is about 75 Mbps. At the same time, in the US, this figure is close to 240 Mbps for fixed broadband but still lag behind countries like Singapore and South Korea.

Is Pakistan in the top list?

Now talk about Pakistan, then the average internet speed there is still very low. According to Ookla’s report, Pakistan is below 20 Mbps in mobile internet speed which is far behind global average. Therefore, it would be wrong to say that Pakistan is included in the top countries in internet speed.

Why India and Pakistan are backward?

population density: The number of users in both countries is very high, which leads to more load on the network.

Infrastructure: Lack of fiber connectivity in rural areas

Policy challenges: Data is cheaper, but low investment.

If you were thinking that America or India will be at the forefront in terms of internet speed, then you will be surprised to know that small but technically advanced countries like Singapore, UAE and South Korea are far ahead in this race.
