India’s sub-4 meter SUV segment is growing rapidly and now two new contenders in this segment – Hyundai Venue and Skoda Kylaq are facing each other. The new Venue has been recently updated, which has seen major improvements in terms of design, engine and features. At the same time, Skoda’s new Kylaq is the company’s first entry-level compact SUV, which is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Let us know what is the difference in price, features, performance and mileage of both the SUVs.
Budget Friendly Venue vs Premium Kylaq
- Prices for the new Hyundai Venue start from Rs.7.90 lakh (HX2 petrol manual) to Rs.15.51 lakh (N10 DCT diesel). The company has launched more than 30 variants, in which options of manual, AMT, DCT and AT transmission are available with both petrol and diesel engines. Besides, introductory discount is also running on it till December 2025. Whereas the price of Skoda Kylaq starts from Rs. 7.89 lakh (Classic MT) and goes up to Rs. 14.40 lakh (Prestige AT). This SUV is available in a total of 7 variants and comes only with petrol engine.

- The interior of Hyundai Venue is based on the new H-architecture design. Its dashboard comes with a coffee-table style center console and moon-white ambient lighting. Higher variants get ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster and comfortable leg space. Whereas the interior of Skoda Kylaq gives a more spacious and premium feel. This SUV is inspired by Skoda Kushaq and has a wheelbase of 2566mm and boot space of 446 liters.
Features and safety
- More than 65 features have been provided in Venue. This includes level-2 ADAS (like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist), 10.25-inch touchscreen, 8-speaker Bose system, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and 360-degree camera. Heads-up display and electronic parking brake are also available in top variants. On the other hand, Kylaq has features like 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless connectivity, single-pane sunroof, ventilated seats, cruise control and air purifier. However, it lacks ADAS feature. In terms of safety, 6 airbags, ABS + EBD, ESP, hill assist, ISOFIX and rear parking sensors are standard in both the SUVs.
Engine and Performance
- Hyundai Venue comes with three engine options, which include 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel. The turbo engine offers sportier driving, while the 1.2L petrol engine is smooth and refined for city driving. On the other hand, the Skoda Kushaq only gets a 1.0L TSI turbo petrol engine. This engine delivers 115hp power and 178Nm torque, which comes with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.5 seconds and its soft suspension gives it a smooth ride.
- The diesel version of Hyundai Venue is at the forefront in terms of mileage. According to ARAI, its petrol version gives a mileage of 17.5 to 20 kmpl and the diesel version gives a mileage of 23 to 24 kmpl. The petrol engine of Skoda Kushaq gives a mileage of 19.05 to 19.68 kmpl.
