The sub-4 meter SUV segment is the most popular in the Indian market and currently both the new Hyundai Venue and Renault Kiger are in the news. While Hyundai has introduced the Venue with the new generation update, Renault has launched the Kiger as a facelift model. Both the SUVs are strong in terms of design, features and performance, but the question is which of these SUVs will prove to be better for you.
features comparison
- The new Hyundai Venue has been introduced with many premium updates. Its exterior has twin horn LED DRLs, quad beam LED headlamps and horizon LED tail lamps, which give it a modern and stylish look. Talking about the interior, the cabin of Venue gives a very luxurious feel. It has dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic display, dual-tone leather seats, electric 4-way driver seat, rear AC vents, window sunshade and moon-white ambient lighting. Apart from this, its interior looks quite upmarket with coffee-table center console, D-cut steering wheel and premium leather armrest.
- Renault Kiger also comes with good features in its segment. It gets styling elements like LED headlights, fog lamps, and red brake callipers with 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior has features like 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen system, ventilated seats, wireless charger, 360-degree camera and TPMS. Venue feels more like a luxury SUV, while Kiger attracts young buyers with its smart and practical features.
Engine and Performance
- Two petrol engines are available in Hyundai Venue. First is the 1.2-litre MPI engine which gives 82 HP power and 114.7 Nm torque and second is the 1.0-litre turbo engine, which gives more dynamic performance. Venue’s engine is known for smooth drive and better fuel efficiency. Whereas, Renault Kiger has 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine (72 PS) and 1.0-litre turbo engine (100 PS, 160 Nm). Its turbo engine comes with all three transmission options – manual, AMT and CVT, making it versatile for both city and highway. The turbo engine of Venue is more refined, whereas Kiger gives more aggressive and sporty performance.
price and mileage
- The new Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 15.69 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Renault Kiger is available between Rs 5.76 lakh to Rs 10.34 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of mileage, Kiger is ahead – its Turbo CVT version gives around 20 kmpl, while the mileage of Venue’s 1.2L engine is around 17.5–18 kmpl. Kiger is economical in terms of maintenance and offers a good ownership experience even in small towns. Whereas Venue, despite being a little expensive, becomes a better reliable option due to its brand value, premium feel and strong service network. Overall, if you want luxury features and technology then Hyundai Venue is a better option, while if you want a smart and full-package SUV in a limited budget then Renault Kiger will prove to be a more sensible buy.
