For example, if you use a 2000W electric geyser and it remains on for 1 hour daily, then it consumes a total of 2kWh i.e. 2 units of electricity. In such a situation, a total of 60 units of electricity will be spent in the entire month.
If we look at the average electricity price, it is around Rs 8 per unit. In this way, the expenditure in the entire month will be Rs 60 x 8 = Rs 480. However, there are some other factors that can increase the electricity consumption of your geyser. More energy will be consumed to heat the water. Apart from this, if the insulation of the geyser is bad then there will be heat loss and excessive electricity consumption may occur.
How to save?
- Nowadays the geysers coming come with autocut feature. If you are using an old geyser, then use it only when you need hot water.
- Keep the thermostat of the geyser at a moderate temperature so that not much energy is spent on heating the water.
- Hot water pipes and insulation should be checked.
- Regular service of the geyser is very important, so that the element remains safe and electricity consumption is reduced.
