Hindu in Pakistan in danger only option migrate to India from Sindh HRCP Report claims

Hindu Migrants From Sindh Pakistan: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) published a fact check study, Exodus: Is the Hindu Community Leaving Sindh? (Exodus: Is the Hindu community leaving Sindh?). HRCP on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) informed about the study that the Sindh state has failed to protect minorities in Pakistan. Due to this, many Hindu families were forced to migrate not only due to faith-based violence but also due to economic conflict and climate change. Looking at this report it becomes clear that the Shahbad Sharif government of Pakistan has failed in the security of Hindus.

Regarding this report, HRCP President Asad Iqbal said that there have been very few police reports of incidents of violence and discrimination against Hindus in Sindh province. This is the reason why Hindus are being forced to migrate to India or other countries.

Law and order is deteriorating in the state

Regarding this entire issue, Rajveer Singh Sodha, Special Assistant on Human Rights to the Chief Minister of Sindh, found that amidst the continuously deteriorating law and order situation in the state, upper caste Hindu families have to become victims of extortion from criminal gangs. This is the reason why they have been forced to migrate. HRCP member Pushpa Kumari also cited kidnapping of Hindus, forced religious conversion and early marriage as the reasons for migration.

HRCP demands from Sindh government

HRCP member and journalist Sohail Sangi called on the Sindh and federal governments to take immediate action to create a safer, more respectful environment for the Hindu community. This includes stronger laws, more Hindu representation in the police and constant dialogue between the government and local Hindu communities. The study recommends assessing the problem, collecting data on migration of Hindus, deploying special law enforcement units in areas of violence, and making and implementing laws against forced religious conversion and early marriage.
