Veteran actor Dharmendra died on 24 November at the age of 89. During his funeral and prayer meet, the rift between Dharmendra’s first family and second wife Hema Malini came to the fore.
Now famous writer and columnist Shobha De has made a big claim on this entire matter. In an interview given to journalist Barkha Dutt, Shobha De said that Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur and her family sidelined Hema Malini after the actor’s death.
Shobha said that despite sharing 45 years of life with Dharmendra, it must have been extremely painful for Hema Malini to be completely isolated by her first family. However, Hema handled this entire situation with utmost dignity and personality.
Dharmendra and Hema married in the year 1980.
Shobha says- ‘This must have been a very difficult and difficult decision. His first family separated him from everything in which he had spent 45 years of his life, which he cherished with love, which had enriched his life.
He has two daughters from this marriage. This must have hurt him a lot, but he kept it limited to his personal life. The way he handled it and whenever he did any public event, I think he handled it with complete dignity. Not only for themselves but also for the person they had lost.
Explaining her point in detail, Shobha De says- ‘Hema herself is an influential personality. Despite that, he did not make any public display and chose dignity.
I think, this reveals a lot about his personality. It would not be nice to say this but if she wanted, she could have easily hijacked those emotional moments right after Dharam ji’s demise.
The media would have loved to cover their tears and every sob, intruding into their privacy. And they would have completely taken away their dignity, which obviously meant a lot to them.
Let us tell you that on November 27, Dharmendra’s sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol had organized a prayer meeting for the late actor at Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai. However, his second wife Hema Malini did not attend this prayer meet.
On the same day, Hema Malini had organized Geeta recitation at her home. After this, on December 11, Hema Malini along with her daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol had organized a separate prayer meeting in Delhi.
