Posting on the social media platform ‘X’, Governor Murphy wrote, “I am announcing emergency due to sudden floods and heavy rains in some parts of the state. Please be safe and take necessary precautions.”
Warning of people to be vigilant
Officials have warned that the rain may continue overnight and there is a possibility of sudden flood. The New York City Emergency Management has asked people living in the basement apartments to be vigilant and prepared for floods without warnings at night.
At the same time, people have been advised to keep a bag full of phones, flashlight and essential items with them and be ready to go to a high place in any situation. Emergency teams in New York and New Jersey are on alert and have been deployed to help people in affected areas. Due to rain, waterlogging has been created in many areas and the administration of the city has issued a high alert.
