GRAP-3 in Delhi: After the deterioration of air quality (AQI) in Delhi-NCR, the third phase of GRAP (GRAP-3) has been implemented again on Thursday (January 9). Commission for Air Quality Management has issued a notification for this.
In the issued notification, the rules for implementation of Grape 3 and Grape 4 have also been mentioned. According to the information received from the Commission, if AQI goes above 350 in Delhi-NCR, then GRAP-3 will have to be implemented as a precautionary measure. At the same time, if the air quality crosses 400 on the same day, then the restrictions of Grape-4 will be implemented again.
AQI 357 on January 9
It has been told in the notification that at present, 297 AQI was recorded on January 8, 2025. Due to calm winds and foggy conditions, it increased rapidly and by 4.00 pm on January 9, 2025, AQI reached 357.
What are the restrictions in Grape-3?
1. There will be a ban on Medium Goods Vehicles (MGVs) with BS-4 diesel engines for freight transportation in Delhi. There will be exemption in this restriction only for emergency and essential services.
2. Vehicles with BS-4 or lower standard registered outside Delhi will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Earlier this rule was included in GRAP-4, which has also been implemented in the third phase.
3. Non-essential diesel MGVs of BS-4 or older standards are banned in Delhi.
4. In schools of Delhi-NCR, education up to class 5 can be conducted in hybrid mode. Parents have the option to choose online or offline classes.
5. In GRAP-3, the state governments related to Delhi and NCR can change the timings of government offices.
