The government has issued a new advisory for Google Chrome users. Users have been advised to install the latest version of Google Chrome. Government agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued this advisory for PC users. This advisory has been issued for users using Google Chrome browser on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. CERT-In, in its advisory, has placed this problem in Google Chrome in the high risk category.

CERT-In released its on Thursday, October 30 advisory Said that these flaws in Google Chrome can give cyber attackers access to your system, due to which the personal data of your PC can be in danger. In its vulnerability note CIVN-2025-0288, the government agency has asked desktop platform users of Google Chrome to download the latest update to the browser to avoid this.
The government agency says that for Linux users, Google Chrome version 142.0.7444.59 and Windows and Mac users should immediately update Google Chrome version 142.0.7444.59/60 or its older version. This problem has been seen in V8 JavaScript engine, extensions, autofill, media and omnibox in older Google Chrome versions. Hackers can take advantage of this problem and gain access to the user’s PC.
CERT-In said in its advisory that Google has been informed about this problem. It has been placed in the high risk warning category. The government has advised Google Chrome users with desktop or laptop to update their browser with the latest software so that this problem can be fixed.
How to download the update?
- Downloading and installing Google Chrome updates is very easy. For this, users will first have to launch Google Chrome browser on their PC.
- After this, you will have to click on the three dots on the top right side.
- Then go to Help and click on About Google Chrome.
- After this the latest version of Google Rank will start downloading.
- After downloading the update, the user will have to launch Google Chrome again.
In this way users can download the latest available updates of their Google Chrome browser. After installing the latest update, users will not be at risk of cyber attack.
