Government’s strictness on Deepfake! New law coming to save digital identity

Deepfake: There are highly real -looking fake videos, audio and images prepared with the help of Deepfac Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this, the appearance or voice of a person is added to another context, such as changing the appearance of the actor in a film scene or to say to a politician which he never said. While on the one hand they can sometimes look entertaining, on the other hand they challenge the right to identity and privacy of the person. In 2023, artists in America even put on a strike to protect their image from AI.

Why is Denmark doing tough law?

The Denmark government is now preparing to amend its copyright law to control the deep -fet content made by AI. This amendment is to protect the digital identity like the appearance and voice of the person, which is considered to be the first such legal initiative in Europe.

The government’s intention is that this amendment should be introduced in Parliament in the autumn of 2025, which is getting the support of various political parties. Its purpose is not just a joke or fake video but to deal with serious challenges like fake news, financial fraud and cybercrime.

Incidents and threats related to deepfeek

Fake videos of Ukraine and US leaders went viral, causing confusion in the public. An AI-generated video call from ARUP, an engineering company in UK, was cheated by $ 25 million. Ferrari was also tried to cheat with the fake voice of CEO. A journalist cracked the bank’s voice system with a fake copy of his own voice. According to a report by AI security firm Resmble.AI, 487 deep -skese attacks were recorded in the second quarter of 2025 which is 300% more than last year. There was a total economic loss of $ 350 million in total estimated.

What is the world doing to deal with deepfack?

In the US, laws such as take it Down Act have been enacted, which decide the imperative of removing harmful deepch in 48 hours and federal punishment. EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) is applicable from 2024 to prevent online misinformation and illegal activities. The UK adopted the Online Safety Act in 2025, increasing the accountability of digital platforms.

The proposed law of Denmark will ensure that if a person’s image or voice is misused, it will be able to get the right to remove that material and seek compensation till 50 years after the death of the artist. In addition, social media companies such as Meta and X can be fined heavy if they violate this law.
