Google: Google has made a limited start to its new Age Assurance Technology in America. The purpose of this technology is to protect users under 18 years of age online inappropriate content and advertisements. The company announced this scheme at the beginning of the year, which has now been implemented as a test between limited users. It will be launched extensively after successful testing.

How does new age recognition technology works?

The biggest feature of this system is its AI -based age estimation system that uses the age of the user on the basis of their search history, Youtube viewing habits and other signs. If a user is found to be under 18, then many digital safety features will be active for him automatically.

• Disable features like location history and timeline in Google Maps

What will happen if there is a mistake in identity?

If a user is mistakenly considered a minor, then he can get manual verification done through identity card or selfie to prove his identity. Google claims that this entire process works without collecting new information and no data is shared with third party apps or websites.

This technology of Google has been implemented as a test in some other areas before. The company says that it will be brought to other countries only after seeing its initial results in America.

Although this step has been taken with the intention of strengthening the online security of children and adolescents, but the debate on digital privacy, monitoring, and freedom of users has also intensified. Google says that this initiative is not only a technical effort but part of a comprehensive policy which includes parents control and safe platforms like YouTube Kids through Family Link.
