Lammy described it as an integrated conference and appreciated cooperation between G7 countries. He said, “I am happy with the effort and warmth among the partners in G7.”
Tariff weakens G7’s unity
However, Trump’s heavy tariff on steel and aluminum has weakened the unity of G7. All G7 members are affected by tariffs. But Canada, which is bordering the US, is the most affected. Trump has repeatedly made derogatory comments about Canada and has spoken of making it a 51st state of America, which has increased tension.

The growing trade war has made relations between the US and its close partners more tense.
