The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on Saturday sent a letter to actor Karthik Aryan. The letter was about an event to be held in Houston, USA, which is organized by a Pakistani owner’s restaurant.
FWICE also shared a poster with the letter, showing Karthik as the chief guest of the event. However, the actor’s team made it clear that they had nothing to do with this program.
Karthik The statement on behalf of Aryan’s team said,
Karthik Aryan has no relation with this program. He never made any official announcement to join it. We have approached the organizers and requested to remove all the promotional materials with their name and picture.
What was written in FWICE letter?
On this whole matter, FWICE sent a letter to Karthik, in which it was written,
This event is doing a Pakistani person and the association of Indian artists in it can be considered against the spirit of the country. If you did not have information about the organizer earlier, then we appeal to you that you immediately remove your name from this program and if you already had information, it is more worried.
FWICE also reminded in its letter that after Uri in 2016 and Pulwama terrorist attacks in 2016, the industry had taken a collective decision to stay away from Pakistani artists and events.
Fwice wrote,
This case is related to anxiety and responsibility. We have come to know that you are going to participate in the ‘Azadi Utsav’ to be held on 15 August 2025 in Houston, USA. In the poster of this program, you are shown as the main guest. Usually such programs increase the respect of Indian culture abroad, but we regret that the event is being organized by a Pakistani person Shaukat Maradia’s restaurant Aga Restaurant and Catering.
FWICE also wrote this in his letter,
These restaurants and its associated people are conducting another program, in which Pakistani singer Atif Aslam will perform. He is also promoting the event called “Jashn-e-Azadi” to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day. Promoting the national programs of India and Pakistan from the same place is not only like a conflict of interest, but it is also against the spirit and instructions of the country.
