Former Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) MP Prajwal Revanna has been at the center of many unexpected developments. These include the arrest from a special investigation team (SIT) with all female members (SITs) with a large number of pen drives with a large number of pen drives with her alleged sex video in Hassan district of Karnataka amidst the discussion of Lok Sabha elections in April 2024.
Former MP Prajwal Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment in one of the cases registered against him on Saturday (August 2, 2025). It was the culmination of incidents that derailed his ambitious political career.
The case is related to the rape of a 48 -year -old woman, who worked as a domestic assistant at the family in Gannikada farm house in Hassan. The woman alleged that Revanna raped her twice, once in the farm house and then the second time in 2021 at her residence in Basavangudi, Bangalore during the Kovid-19 lockdown.

28 April, 2024: A case of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation was registered against Revanna and his father, former minister HD Revanna on the basis of a complaint lodged by his former domestic assistant.
29 April, 2024: The complainant went missing, allegedly kidnapped by Revanna’s parents to prevent testimony against Revanna.
30 April, 2024: JD (S) suspended Revanna from the party.
2 May, 2024: The Karnataka police registered a case against Revanna for rape and issued a lookout notice for the ‘absconding’ MP.
4 May, 2024: The abducted former domestic assistant was rescued by the SIT.
30 May, 2024: Revanna fly from Frankfurt Main Airport in Germany to Bengaluru.
31 May, 2024: On reaching Revanna, he was stopped and arrested by the SIT and later sent to custody.
26 June, 2024: Special court of MPs and MLAs constituted for quick hearing of criminal cases against public representatives refused to grant bail to Revanna.
5 July, 2024: Revanna turned to the Karnataka High Court for bail.
23 August, 2024: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed the first charge sheet in the case.

16 January, 2025: The Karnataka High Court rejected Revanna’s request to give a copy of all digital evidences in the rape case.
1 May, 2025: The Karnataka High Court dismissed a petition filed by Revanna’s mother Bhavani Revanna, in which more time was sought for the appointment of a new lawyer.
2 May, 2025: In the rape case filed by the former domestic assistant, a special court for MPs and MLAs started.
18 July, 2025: The trial of the trial was completed; The court reserved its decision for July 30.
30 July, 2025: The special court sought clarification and adjourned the hearing of the case for August 1.
1 August, 2025: The special court convicted Revanna of rape; The punishment was determined to pronounce the next day.
