In fact, during the assembly elections, the BJP had promised to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the manifesto, which announced health insurance benefits of up to Rs 10 lakh to the families. This scheme is applicable from the year 2018 across the country but the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi did not give it a place. Now after winning the majority in the election, the first cabinet meeting headed by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta gave it the green signal. Under the government process, it is mandatory to sign an MoU between the central and the state government before implementing the scheme in the state. For this, after several meetings of different rounds for the last three weeks, now the time of March 18 has been fixed.
They will get the benefit first
Sources in the Health Ministry said that the time of MoU has been fixed but how many families in Delhi have to make a part of this scheme? Information about this is yet to be received from the state government. According to the initial information received, six lakh people are being made beneficiaries by the Delhi government in the first phase. Apart from this, Anganwadi workers will also get the benefit of this scheme. Also, elders aged 70 years or above will also get the benefit of this scheme in Delhi. E -cards will be issued to some of these people during the program. Also, the people of Delhi will have to register on the online portal or mobile app to be a part of Ayushman Bharat which is operated by the National Health Authority.
Right now priority to old list
A senior official said that six lakh people were included in the required list in Delhi when the scheme was implemented six years ago. The same list is being followed in the first phase. Information on online platforms will be provided to identify them before 18 March. It can be registered through Delhi’s Aadhaar card. Health insurance up to five lakh rupees is being given by the Center through this scheme. At the same time, the Delhi government has increased this amount to 10 lakh rupees, which will be borne by the state government. If the state government wants to make more families a part of this scheme, then it is free for this. At present, he has not shared an accurate figure with the Center. It is expected that this information may be available by the upcoming Monday.
