The talk of making ‘Red 2’ was fixed at the time of shooting of the first film, or after its success?

The film ‘Red’ is a film made on a completely new idea. There is a risk in making any film, we also worry as a filmmaker that people will like this story or not. But, the film was very much liked by the people. And, we left the matter there. After a year or two, we thought of finding something again in that world. It was thought that whether the character could be taken forward. Creating a sequel is a two -edged sword, it will always be compared to the previous film.

And, this time the inspiration of the story that is not a character, remained different incidents?

When we worked on this idea, it was found that an IRS is not necessarily raided and done every time by raiding. There is a huge mafia of America, Al Kapon. However, he was caught in a case of upgradation instead of a crime. So this was the only idea how a big criminal can be caught in the case of tax evasion.

Ajay Devgan is the current time’s hit franchise artist. About half a dozen, his franchise films are still under construction, where do you bring stories from?

Newspapers really get stories. I have many friends. In Hazari Bagh, I have seen many people since childhood, who read the newspaper as soon as they wake up in the morning. I have many friends who prepared for different competitions. I also prepared for banking because my late father was a banker. So stories keep coming from people and friends around.

And, how did the cinema first come to your mind?

I never thought in my childhood that I would become a filmmaker. Films also used to see what they used to come on Doordarshan then. Did not even think even when Delhi came to study graduation. Yes, it is definitely that I loved writing and brought me to Mumbai. I took a train ticket in Mumbai after graduation examination. There was not enough money that if the Rajdhani could come from the Express, the train which was found, came from it.
