Dialogue on Indo-US Trade Agreement is moving forward: Commerce Secretary
Top government official Barthwal also commented on the Indo-US trade agreement on Thursday. He said that the talks for the proposed bilateral trade agreement between India and the US are moving well.
The Commerce Secretary said that an Indian party would go to Washington for further discussion. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will lead a team of senior Indian officials who will be visiting Washington from 17 May to discuss the agreement with their US counterparts.
During his visit, he will hold a meeting with the US Trade Representative (USTR) Zamison Greer and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik.
The four-day dialogue (17-20 May) is taking place at a time when the two countries are exploring the possibility of interim trade system in goods to ensure “early mutual benefits” before finalizing the first phase of the trade agreement by autumn (September-October) this year.
