The US Justice Department has released about 30 thousand pages of new documents in the case related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. President Donald Trump is mentioned hundreds of times in these files.
According to the New York Times, Trump’s name is most often mentioned in some news or record, but some documents are directly related to Trump. These also include an email from January 2020. The email said Trump took eight flights on Epstein’s private plane between 1993 and 1996.
According to the email, only Epstein, Trump and a man in his 20s were on board one flight. Trump was accompanied on the remaining flights by his ex-wife Marla Maples, daughter Tiffany and son Eric.
However, Donald Trump has not been accused of any criminal role in the Epstein case. There was no immediate reaction from the White House.
The picture is of an email which mentions Donald Trump’s visits to Epstein Island.
Justice Department said – there may be false claims in the files
The Justice Department warned that these files may also include false and sensational claims. The department said in a statement on social media,
Some of these documents, which contain false and sensational claims against President Trump, were turned over to the FBI just before the 2020 election.
Congress passed a law in November directing nearly all investigative records related to Epstein to be made public by December 19. After this the government started releasing the files.
Epstein’s passport photo also revealed
A photo of an old American passport of Epstein has also been revealed in the new files. It was issued in February 1985 and expired in 1995.
Below Epstein’s autograph is a black and white passport photo of him wearing a suit and tie.
Three lakh documents were issued on December 19
The Justice Department had released three lakh documents at 2.30 pm (Indian time) on Friday night as part of the investigation related to Jeffrey Epstein. However, it may still take time for the complete documents to be released.
In these, pictures of stalwarts like former US President Bill Clinton and pop singer Michael Jackson were revealed, although Donald Trump’s name was almost absent in the records. Whereas Trump’s name has appeared in the flight logs of Epstein’s private jet released in February.
The Epstein files released Friday include photos of celebrities such as pop star Michael Jackson, former President Bill Clinton and TV host Oprah Winfrey.
Copies of interviews of many victims and Epstein’s sentence were not released.
The new documents included photos of Epstein’s homes in New York and the US Virgin Islands and photos of some famous people. But the most important papers, such as FBI interviews with victims and the ruling that did not give Epstein a major sentence, have not been released.
This is raising questions as to why the investigation was not done properly earlier and why he received light punishment. When the photo related to Trump was removed, Democratic leaders said that the government was hiding something and demanded to reveal the whole truth.
Other big names like Britain’s former Prince Andrew also have little mention in these documents. Opposition lawmakers accused the Justice Department of a cover-up, demanding full transparency for the American public.
Trump was Epstein’s best friend
Trump and Epstein met at a party. In 2002, Trump had said in an interview given to a magazine-
I’ve known Jeff for 15 years, he’s an amazing guy. We both like young beautiful girls.
This statement later became a problem for Trump. In 1992, Trump attended a party with Epstein and cheerleaders at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. In 2019, NBC released a footage of it.
In this, Trump is seen pointing Epstein towards a woman and leaning over and saying – Look, she is very hot. However, there is no public record of a conversation between Trump and Epstein after a property dispute.
Trump later said in 2019 that he and Epstein had a falling out and had not spoken to each other for 15 years. Trump had said that he no longer considered Epstein his friend.
