According to a media report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken this tough decision when Brook withdrew its name from IPL 2025 for personal reasons. He has also become the first cricketer to face a 2 -year ban from the Indian Premier League under the new rules.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had previously contacted the BCCI regarding Harry Brook not playing in IPL 2025. After that this information was conveyed to the Delhi Capital Franchise through BCCI. Remind you that in the mega auction, Delhi Capitals had bid for Rs 6.25 crore on Harry Brook.

Why did Harry Brook ban?

Quoting The Indian Express, a BCCI source said, “ECB officials have been contacted to ban Harry Brook for 2 years from IPL. The source said that all the players were informed about new rules before the auction last year. The board has prepared these new rules and every player will have to follow the new rules.”

Harry Brook is banned because the new rule of BCCI says that whatever foreign player will be purchased in the auction. If he withdraws his name from the tournament just before the start of the season, he will have to face a 2 -year ban from IPL. According to some media reports, BCCI made this rule on the demand of all 10 franchisees as especially England players refused to play just before the tournament started.
