Only BS-6 standard vehicles have been allowed to enter Delhi from today. Also, amid the news of ban on providing fuel at petrol pumps without valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUC), long queues of people getting PUC checked started forming at petrol pumps since Wednesday morning. At the same time, different reactions of people are also coming out regarding this.
The effect of this decision of Delhi Government was seen at many major petrol pumps including Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Janpath, Barakhamba, Dhaula Kuan. People came early in the morning to get their vehicles checked for pollution, so that they can follow the new rules coming into effect from Thursday.
Let us tell you that the investigation got stopped due to PUC machines servers being down at many petrol pumps, even after waiting for hours, many people returned disappointed. Drivers want to follow the rules, but systemic shortcomings are becoming a big challenge for them.
Bike rider Dinesh Kumar said that my PUC was expiring on December 20, but I got it renewed two days before that. If people do this, only then pollution will reduce. This is very important. Many people are falling ill due to pollution and I am also having cough. Therefore PUC of vehicles is very important.
From today onwards, there is a ban on providing fuel at petrol pumps to vehicles without PUCC i.e. pollution control certificate in Delhi. On this, DTC i.e. Delhi Transport Corporation employee Veer Jain said, as per the order received from Delhi Government, fuel will not be given to vehicles without PUC. We have to check the documents of all the vehicles and ask the petrol pump staff not to fuel the defaulter vehicles. This order will remain in force till further instructions.
Displeasure seen among some drivers
Bike driver Divyansh told that PUC has to be done, but the server is down. Sometimes the server is running, sometimes it is shutting down. I have visited many petrol pumps in the last 10 days. But, due to the new model, PUC of BS-6 is not being done. If the government has made rules then the system should also be fine.
