Foreign Minister Jaishankar is in America these days. There he attended an event organized by ORF during the United Nations General Assembly session. During this, he indirectly targeted US President Donald Trump and said that the need for a global workforce in the changing world cannot be ignored. He clearly said that the population of many countries cannot meet the demand for labor force at its level. He further said that this is a truth that cannot run. The question is that where and how to adjust the global workforce, it can be a matter of political debate, but this requirement cannot be avoided.
He further said that in view of demand and demographics, it is clear that many countries are not able to fulfill the needs of labor force only on the basis of their national population. Jaishankar’s statements have come when the Trump administration has taken a huge increase in H-1B visa fee and a tough stand on immigration. He further said that the international economy will have to find a solution to this issue. Along with this, he referred to the rigorous immigration policies of current US President Trump and one million dollars on H-1 B visa, saying that Indian professionals have been affected the most.

Demand for new skills is arising- Jaishankar
Jayashankar, referring to the changing nature of employment, said that the world is moving towards a global workforce that can adapt itself to contemporary needs. He said that the changes in digital capabilities and dynamics are creating demand for new skills. Speaking on business, Jaishankar said that despite tariffs and non-tariff obstacles, business finds its way and decides new priorities by taking advantage of physical and digital efficiency.
New business agreements and arrangements under new circumstances- Jaishankar
The Foreign Minister also said that new business agreements and arrangements are coming out under new circumstances. He emphasized that keeping these changes in mind, countries will have to work towards adaptation. He further said that both Indian and American companies have questioned the availability of adequate skilled talent. Dhruv also added that immigration policies are a sovereign decision of any country, but it is also necessary to consider its long -term effects. He warned that it could affect America’s credibility if the conditions and restrictions are imposed continuously, as the US image in India was damaged after Operation Sindoor.

New equations in business and technology
Jaishankar said that new business and technical equations are being formed among the countries under current circumstances. He admitted that business finds its way despite obstacles and uncertainties in the world. Better transport, shipping and digital structure are making it easier today.
Self-sufficiency-digital public infrastructure
Jaishankar said that big countries should focus on increasing self -sufficiency. Giving the example of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), he said that many societies consider it to be more relevant and adopted than European or American models.
He said that the world is going through increasing uncertainty, instability and unexpected changes. Countries have to adopt a policy of ‘de-discning’ to avoid excessive dependence in global supply chains, markets and connectivity. This is the central question of diplomacy today.
