The agreement date ended on 31 July. On this day, Trump imposed tariffs on more than 100 countries. The countries that had compromised with the US were imposed 10 to 20% tariffs and the countries that did not do so, they were targeted by 25 to 50%. India imposed a tariff of 25% as he did not listen to Trump’s conditions.

US President Trump announced a tariff on 69 countries on 2 April 2025 at the Rose Garden of the White House.

Learn about the countries bowing before Trump’s threats in the story, will also know about those who have not surrendered in front of America, will know what they now have options…

5 countries that bow before American pressure

1. Britain: Beef tax free

The US announced a 41% tariff on Britain on 2 April. Now it has been reduced to 10%. Apart from this, 25% tariff has been imposed on Britain’s steel and aluminum items. Earlier, the US had put 50% tariff on both of them.

Reasons for reduced tariff: According to Reuters report, Britain made the goods coming from the US such as beef and ethanol tax free. Apart from this, he promised to reduce tariffs on olive oil, alcohol and sports related items.

2. Japan: Ready to buy 100 Boeing Plane

Trump has announced a 15% tariff on Japanese goods. Earlier, 25% tariff was imposed on Japan.

Reasons for reduced tariff: According to a report by Reuters, Japan has promised to invest $ 550 billion (about 45 lakh crore) in the US. Under this, Japan will buy 100 Boeing aircraft from the US and will increase the defense spending with US companies from $ 14 billion to $ 17 billion annually.

3. European Union (EU): Will invest 51 lakh crores

The US has imposed a 15% tariff on the European Union. Trump threatened to impose 30% tariff on EU. However, there will be no concession on steel, copper and aluminum items and the rate of tariff will be 50% on them.

Reasons for reduced tariff: EU will buy energy worth $ 750 billion i.e. about 64 lakh crore rupees from the US in the next 3 years. Along with this, EU will invest $ 600 billion in America i.e. 51 lakh crore rupees. These investment will be in the US pharma, auto and defense sector.

4. South Korea- Beef Market not open, yet the tariff reduced

The US has imposed a 15% tariff on South Korean goods. Earlier, South Korea had 25% tariff.

Reasons for reduced tariff: South Korea will buy $ 100 billion energy from the US and will invest $ 350 billion. Along with this, American goods will have a tax free entry in South Korea’s market. However, South Korea has not opened rice and beef market in the interest of its farmers.

5. Indonesia- Promised to buy 50 Boeing Plane

The US has imposed 19% tariff on Indonesia. Trump had earlier threatened to impose 32% tariffs on Indonesia.

Reasons for reduced tariff: More than 99% of American goods have got tax free entry in Indonesia market. Indonesia has promised to buy 50 Boeing planes.

5 countries that did not bow down to American pressure

1. India: not ready to take non -vegetarian cow’s milk

Trump had announced the first 26% tariff on India. After 4 months, it made a difference of just 1%. Now 25% tariff is applicable to India.

There were several levels of talks between India and US officials, but no agreement could be reached till 31 July. Trump expressed displeasure over the lack of deal between the US and India and said that he would also impose a penalty on India due to buying weapons and oil from Russia.

Reason: America wants entry into India’s Agri and Dairy sector and wants to sell non -vegetarian cow’s milk, but India is not ready for it.

Apart from the interest of farmers, there are religious reasons behind this. At the same time, India is taking more care about its small and medium industries (MSME).

2. China: Will not eliminate subsidy on government companies

The most fierce fierce fight between the US and China over the tariff. In May, the US imposed a tariff of up to 145% on China. After this, China imposed 125% counter -tariff on the US. It later decreased. At present, the US has put 30% tariff on the US on China at 30%.

Reason: America did not just want business balance from China. He wanted China to give less help to its government companies. The US believes that China gives a lot of subsidy to its government companies so that companies from other countries do not compete with them.

The US also demands that China give foreign companies more opportunities in technology and change the law of intellectual property (such as patents etc.). China was not ready for this.

3. Brazil: Maximum 50% tariff

Trump has put 50% tariff on Brazil. However, some important things are excluded from this tariff. Such as aircraft and their parts, aluminum, fertilizer, wood, energy products and orange juice. Only 10% already fixed tariff will be applicable to these.

Reason: Trump is the most angry with the fact that the government is doing excesses against former President Zaier Bolsonaro in Brazil. Apart from this, Brazil’s trade deficit with the US is also very high.

4. Canada: It was expensive to support Palestine

The US has put 35% tariffs on Canada. Earlier this tariff was 25%. Trump increased 10% tariff on Canada because PM Mark Carney has announced to make Palestine a separate country.

Reason: Trump had given two major reasons for putting tariffs on Canada.

First: Canada supports Palestine as a separate country, while America is against it.

Second: Trump believes that Canada is not taking necessary steps to control the supply of Phantenyl (drugs) in the US.

5. South Africa: Causes of tariffs with China, Iran and Russia

The US imposed 30% tariff on South Africa in April. It remained intact even after 4 months. There was no deal between the two countries regarding tariffs.

Reason: Trump claimed that America’s trade deficit with South Africa is very high. Apart from this, Trump is also angry with South Africa’s friendship with Russia, China and Iran.

Countries are looking for options to deal with Trump’s tariff

1. Search for new markets

Countries like India, Brazil and South Africa are now trying to sell goods in new markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America, not dependent on America.

2. Help of domestic industries

Brazil and South Africa launched relief packages for their farmers, manufacturing companies and small industries. Brazil gave export financeing and subsidy to reduce the effect of American tariff.

3. To file a complaint with WTO

China, Brazil and South Africa have complained about Trump’s policies by visiting the World Trade Organization (WTO). He said that some decisions of Tariff are against international trade rules. India has also started this process.
