Dhurandhar is produced under the banner of Jio Studios and B62 Studios with Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar as producers. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in lead roles along with Ranveer Singh.
story of the film
The story of the film is inspired by the backdrop of the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. The story begins with Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan), the head of the Indian intelligence agency, who plans to eliminate terrorism and underworld networks operating in Pakistan.
For this they need a young man who has no identity and who is involved in some crime. Their search leads them to 20-year-old Hamza (Ranveer Singh) from Punjab, who is in jail. Hamza is given special training and sent to Pakistan for a mission.
In Pakistan, Hamza is faced with the dangerous underworld of Lyari, where he has to deal with dangerous people like gangster Rehman Dacoit (Akshaye Khanna) and Karachi SP Chaudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt). The first part of the film deals with the gangster world, crime and violence, while the second part of the film is full of espionage, deception and conspiracy. The story keeps the audience curious till the end whether Hamza succeeds in his mission and how he wipes out the underworld.
acting in film
Ranveer Singh fits perfectly into the character of Hamza. His looks, body language and action energy keep the audience engaged throughout the film. His strong performance in many scenes becomes the attraction of the film.
Akshaye Khanna is dangerous and impressive as the villain. Both excitement and fear are felt in his every dialogue and entry.
The presence and acting of Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan make the story of the film believable.
Sara Arjun Despite the small screen time, she adds naturalness and emotional dimension to her character, which makes the serious parts of the film more effective.
Direction and technology in film
Director Aditya Dhar has presented the film on a large scale and close to reality. The set designs, locations and visuals are distinct and impressive from Indian action films. The length of the film is approximately 3 hours 16 minutes, but the plot, intrigue and action keep one engaged throughout.
There are some minor mistakes in the screenplay and pacing, but overall the film makes for an exciting and watchable experience on the big screen.
Music and songs in the film
The music and background score of the film has also further strengthened the action and thrill of the film. Some songs have already gone viral and are being liked among the audience:
Saint – The title track, with rap and Punjabi beats, sets the spy action tone of the film.
Ez-Ez – High octane song, which is suitable for the violent parts of the film.
deepened– Romantic song, which adds a human and emotional aspect to the story.
These songs and background score have made the action, emotion and thrill of the film more effective.
shortcomings of the film
The length of the film may seem excessive to some viewers. At times the pace of the story feels slow. Some characters could have got more screen time, which would have added more depth to their roles.
