Seven people have died so far due to the collapse of two rooms and walls of the two rooms of the Shah’s Dargah near Humayun’s mausoleum during the rains on Friday afternoon in Hazrat Nizamuddin area. Abid (37), a resident of Nawada Bihar at LNJP Hospital on Saturday, succumbed. The condition of four people admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Center still remains critical. A total of six people, including three women, died in the accident on Friday. These included mother and daughter. Police on Saturday handed over the bodies of all six people to the relatives after the post -mortem in Morchari of AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday.

District Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Hemant Tiwari said that after investigation, a case of negligent death and injury has been registered against unknown people on Saturday morning. Police is investigating the accident with CCTV footage. The police is investigating by interrogating those who oversee the dargah. Hazrat Nizamuddin area has several hundred year old Pattas Shah’s Dargah near Humayun’s tomb. After the Namaz on Friday, Maulana used to give talisman to the people here, besides treating them. There are five rooms in the dargah. Two rooms are used by Maulana.

During the heavy rains on Friday, about 10-12 people were coming to these rooms to get amulets from Maulana in addition to darshan at the dargah. Meanwhile, the roof and wall of both rooms suddenly fell at around quarter to four o’clock. A total of 12 people were buried in the accident. After the accident, a woman somehow left the debris and left herself.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, the police and fire department reached the CATS ambulance as soon as the information of the accident was received at around 3.55 pm. In a hurry, 11 people, including an innocent, were removed from the rubble and sent to AIIMS Trauma Center, Safdarjung Hospital, RML and LNJP Hospital where six including three women were declared dead.

The dead include Malkaganj resident Swaroopchand (79), Zakir Nagar resident Moinuddin (37), Vasantkunj resident Meena Arora (56), their daughter Monushka (25), Bhogal, Jangpura resident Anita Saini (58) and Sangam Vihar resident Arif (25). Abid died on Saturday. The police have taken his body and sent him to Morchery. Now the death toll has increased to seven. The condition of Rani, Rafat Parveen, Gudiya Parveen Aryan in the accident remains critical. He is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Center.
