Shahrukh Khan wrote on social media on this special occasion,
It is a great pleasure to launch the bronze statue of Raj and Simran today in Leicester Square, London. This celebration of 30 years of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is very special. DDLJ is the first Indian film to feature in the Scenes in the Square trail. Thank you to everyone in the UK who made this possible. If you ever come to London, do meet Raj and Simran. We want you to create more memories with DDLJ.
Let us tell you that Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge was directed by Aditya Chopra. This film is still present in the hearts of the audience. Its characters Raj and Simran created a distinct identity in Hindi cinema. It is India’s longest running film, which is still shown at the Maratha Mandir cinema hall in Mumbai.
Regarding the film, Shahrukh Khan recently said in a statement that it does not seem that 30 years have passed since DDLJ was released. Seems like it happened just yesterday, but it’s still hard to believe. I thank people all over the world who have shown so much love to Raj. No one had thought that this film would settle so deeply in the hearts of people.
Kajol said that a little part of DDLJ is seen in every romantic film made after it. Simran is a character for me that never ends. She is the voice of millions of girls who obey their parents but do not give up on their dreams. When someone says ‘Ja Simran, Ja’ it is not just a dialogue, it becomes a symbol of courage and the power of love.
