CSK enters a new deal with Punjab Kings for 1 special player

CSK star makes massive career move; Takes massive dig at selectors for repeated snubs

In possibly one of the biggest transfers in IPL history, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly closing in on signing Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell from Punjab Kings (PBKS). After a forgettable IPL 2025 season, PBKS is ready to part ways with Maxwell ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

The Punjab Kings are ready to leave Maxwell ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 auction after his nightmare 2025 season, where he managed just 48 runs in seven innings at a disappointing average of 8.00 with the bat and picked up only four wickets in 13 overs with the ball.

For a player of Maxwell’s caliber, it was one of the most difficult seasons in his IPL career, and his INR 4.2 crore price tag now looks too heavy for PBKS to justify. Now, the runners-up of the last season decided to part ways with the Australian all-rounder, and CSK is ready to jump in for a dream deal.

CSK eye Glenn Maxwell in historic trade deal

As reported by Revsportz journalist Rohit Juglan, the Punjab Kings have already started exploring trade options for Glenn Maxwell, and the Chennai Super Kings have already shown interest. CSK is eager to make their longtime dream signing a reality soon.

CSK, known for reviving careers and getting the best out of struggling stars, has always admired Maxwell’s explosive potential and all-round value. For years, CSK fans have wanted to see the Australian power hitter don the iconic yellow jersey, and this might finally be the season it happens.

With the Chennai franchise looking to strengthen their middle order and add another spin-bowling option, Maxwell perfectly fits their requirements. It is being said that CSK has already made an official offer for Maxwell. On the other hand, PBKS are believed to be open to the trade but haven’t yet disclosed which player from the Chennai squad to finalize the swap deal.

Glenn Maxwell’s IPL story

Maxwell’s story in the IPL has been one of extreme highs and frustrating lows. Just two seasons ago, in 2023, he was in phenomenal form for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), smashing over 400 runs at a blistering strike rate of 183.48.

But then, he could manage only 52 and 48 runs in the next two seasons. If the trade goes through, it could be the perfect restart for Maxwell and a smart move for CSK, who are rebuilding their middle order after a poor 2025 campaign.

Notably, the Australian star has so far played 141 IPL matches and scored 2819 runs at an average of 23.88 and a strike rate of 155.14.

CSK to release 4 players ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

On the other hand, CSK is set to release Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Devon Conway, and Rahul Tripathi ahead of the IPL 2026 auction in mid-December. The five-time IPL champions have always been smart and strategic when it comes to building their squad.

With the IPL 2026 auction expected to take place in the UAE, the franchise is likely to keep a close eye on rising T20 talents from India and overseas. CSK will be looking for players who can handle subcontinental conditions, perform under pressure, and bring fresh energy to their setup.
