The last date for submitting the retention list for IPL 2026 is approaching. Each team has to submit its retention list by 15th November. This time the rules will be different compared to last time, because any one team can retain any number of players for IPL 2026. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes will be on those players whom the team can release. So let us know which players Chennai Super Kings can release before the auction.
Ravindra Jadeja
The first name is that of Ravindra Jadeja, who can go to Rajasthan Royals as a part of the Sanju Samson trade deal. Jadeja has spent 10 seasons in Chennai Super Kings, but recently reports have come in that Jadeja may go to Rajasthan team for the next season.
Sam Curran
In the Sanju Samson trade deal in which Ravindra Jadeja can become a part, the name of all-rounder Sam Curran has also come up. It is being told that in exchange for Sanju Samson, Chennai Super Kings can trade Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran with the Rajasthan team.
Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi can also be one in the list of players to be released by CSK. Last season, Chennai Super Kings bought him for an amount of Rs 3.4 crore. Tripathi was able to score only 55 runs after playing 5 matches in the entire season.
Vijay Shankar
Vijay Shankar returned to Chennai Super Kings after 11 years in IPL 2025. CSK franchise bought him for a huge amount of Rs 1.2 crore, but he was a complete flop in terms of performance. He was able to score only 118 runs in 6 matches.
Shreyas Gopal
Another all-rounder Shreyas Gopal included in the list may also have to bear the brunt of the poor performance in IPL 2025. He did not get a chance to play even a single match in IPL 2025. Many star players are already present in the team, so Gopal may hardly get a chance in the playing eleven next season.
