It is being sold through the dark web, so that more and more people can be targeted. Researchers have claimed that this Trojan is being sold as malware-as-a-service. This model is helping cyber criminals to empty bank accounts. Hackers take subscription of this app and then use it.
Cleafy researchers were investigating the patterns of some recent cyber attacks, where they came across the Albiriox malware. This malware is being sent to users’ phones through APK files of commonly appearing fake apps. This malware starts working as soon as these apps are installed. Users are sent links to download APK of apps through instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram. Due to some greed, users install them in their phones and get fraud with them.
Installed surreptitiously on phones
According to experts, hackers force users to such an extent that they have to give permission to install unknown apps. After this, this Trojan virus hidden in the APK file gets secretly installed in the user’s phone. This malware does not steal the user’s password once activated, Blick directly targets banking, digital payment and fintech apps.
How to avoid?
- To avoid this dangerous virus, you need to be alert. You should not download any third party app without Google Play Store.
- Do not open any link in the message from an unknown number.
