Corning Incorporated has recently launched Gorilla Glass 7i (Gorilla Glass 7i), especially designed for mid-range and affordable smartphones. This new upgrade will provide better protection from falling compared to the old gorilla glass variants used in many mid-category devices in the current market.

Corning’s press Release According to, the new glass comes with great improvement in durability. The lab test suggests that 7i can avoid falling up to 1 meter on a rough surface such as asphalt, while aluminosilicate glass usually deteriorates at a very low height of about 0.5 meters or less.

In addition to safety from falling, Gorilla Glass 7i provides protection from double scratches compared to some other lithium aluminosilicate cover glass available in the 7i market. This seems to be a new solution for the mid-category smartphone brand which provides better security without spending more.
