CM Nayab Singh Saini’s first reaction on IPS Y Puran Kumar suicide case, said- ‘No matter how much the criminal…’

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday (October 11) expressed grief over the alleged suicide of senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, terming it a very unfortunate incident. He assured the family of the deceased IPS of strict action and justice.

CM Naib Singh Saini said, “No matter how influential the criminal is, he will not be spared. If injustice has been done to the family, our government will work to provide justice.”

According to HT report, while speaking at the BJP state executive meeting in Panchkula, CM Saini paid tribute to the late IPS officer by observing two minutes of silence. During this, the CM also said, “This matter will be thoroughly investigated and if anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him.”

IPS Puran Kumar committed suicide on 7 October

Y Puran Kumar was a 2001 batch IPS officer. He was found dead in his residence in Sector-11, Chandigarh on October 7 and bullet marks were found on his body. He had reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service revolver.

Case registered against many officers including DGP

Chandigarh Police on Thursday (October 09) registered an FIR against Haryana DGP Shatrujit Singh Kapoor and 10 others on charges of instigating IPS officer Y Puran Kumar to commit suicide. This came after Kumar’s wife, IAS Amneet P Kumar, and her family had demanded registration of an FIR into the death of the IPS officer.

In this case, the police also found an 8-page suicide note. In his last note, he had named several senior officials, accusing them of caste-based discrimination and harassment.
