Chinese Ambassador to India Shoo Faihong said on Sunday that the two Asian neighbors should work together to maintain peace in their border areas and do not allow the border issue to define the overall China-India relations. His statement came after the bilateral meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Sharing a post on X, the Chinese envoy wrote, ‘President Xi Jinping told Prime Minister Modi that China and India are partners, not rival. The two countries are not a threat to each other but an opportunity for development.

In addition, the Chinese envoy also highlighted the 75th anniversary of both countries. He said, ‘This year is the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-India diplomatic relations. Both countries need to look and handle mutual relations from strategic and long -term perspectives. Shoo Faihong emphasized that the two countries should increase strategic dialogue so that mutual trust is deep, exchange and mutual-profit cooperation increases, keeping in mind each other’s concerns, find a way of cordial co-existence and strengthen multilateral cooperation to protect shared interests.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi met President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Summit of Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO) leaders. This was his first meeting after the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia in 2024.
