Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is on a tour of China. In his initial statement during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang, Jaishankar said, “Global and regional issues will also be discussed in our meeting today.” Tomorrow we will meet in the format of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the main objective of fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism. This is the common concern of all of us and India hopes that the ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards terrorism will be adopted firmly. You (Wang Yi) as Foreign Minister have long been responsible for our bilateral relations. I am happy to discuss the situation of our relationship at this time, especially at a time when major changes are happening in the world. I expect the exchange of creative and visionary ideas.

This is the result of our ability to solve tension on the border and to maintain peace there. This is the foundation of mutual strategic belief and spontaneous development of relationships. Now it is important that we also pay attention to other issues related to the border, including reducing stress.

I hope these issues will be discussed further deeply. Stable and creative relations between India and China are beneficial not only for us, but for the whole world. This is possible only when we pursue the relationship on the basis of respect, shared interest and sensitivity to each other.
