Chandigarh Court Acquits Former Judge Justice Nirmal Yadav in 15 Lakh Rupees Cash Case

Justice Nirmal Yadav News: A Chandigarh court on Saturday (March 29) acquitted former judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Nirmal Yadav in the 2008 corruption case. A case of corruption was registered against him and others on behalf of the CBI. The Special Court of Additional Sessions Judge Alka Malik ruled.

Along with this, the court also acquitted other accused in this case- Ravinder Singh Bhasin, Rajiv Gupta and Nirmal Singh. According to the report of ‘Bar and Bench’, advocate Hitesh Puri said, “All the accused have been acquitted.” He represented the accused in the case Nirmal Singh. A copy of the decision is awaited.

The case started in 2008

Justice Nirmal Yadav, who was then a High Court judge and former judicial officer. The case against him started in August 2008, when a bag full of Rs 15 lakh was sent to the residence of another High Court judge Justice Nirmaljit Kaur. Justice Kaur’s peon had reported the case to the Chandigarh Police, after which an FIR was registered.

CBI filed charge sheet in 2011

Later, the matter was handed over to the CBI on the orders of the then Governor of Punjab and Administrator General (Retd) of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The CBI initially filed a closure report in the case, which was rejected. He then filed a charge sheet against the accused in 2011.

According to the prosecution, the money given by the clerk of former Haryana Additional Advocate General Sanjeev Bansal was for Justice Yadav, but due to equality in the name of two judges, it accidentally reached Justice Nirmaljeet Kaur’s residence.

In 2010, Justice Yadav was transferred to the Uttarakhand High Court, from where she retired after a year. In 2014, the special court had framed charges against five accused. Bansal, one of the main accused, died in a hospital in Mohali in December 2016. After this, action against him was stopped in January 2017.
