23 lakh government employees will benefit

The hearing was being held on the issue of pension of the officers of the District Judiciary and the retired judges of the High Court. The Finance Ministry notified UPS on 25 January. In UPS, a provision has been made to give a pension equal to 50 percent of the average basic salary received in the last 12 months before retirement. According to a gazette notification issued by the Finance Ministry, UPS will apply to the central government employees who come under the national pension system and choose the UPS option. According to the notification published on 25 January, the employee will not get the UPS or assurance payment in the event of being removed or dismissed from service or resigning. This notification gives 23 lakh government employees the option to choose one of the UPS and NPS.
