The CBI arrested Senior Income Tax Officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Amit Kumar Singhal from Vasantkunj in Delhi for taking a bribe of Rs 25 lakh. The investigating agency arrested a person named Harsh Kotak from Mohali. Harsh was arrested by CBI officials from Mohali, Punjab, who was taking bribe on Singhal’s house on his behalf.

25 lakh rupees as the first installment of bribery
Singhal is currently posted as Additional Director General in the Directorate of Taxpayer in Delhi. According to the CBI, 2007 batch IRS officer Singhal demanded a bribe of Rs 45 lakh. 25 lakh rupees were sent to his house in Mohali on Saturday as the first installment of bribery.

45 lakh rupees were asked in lieu of giving concession
After receiving a bribe complaint, the CBI laid a trap and arrested Harsh Kotak on behalf of Singhal. The statement issued by the CBI said that Singhal had asked for Rs 45 lakh in lieu of giving concession in tax related cases.

Raids in many places in Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai
He also threatened legal action, heavy fines and harassment for not giving bribe. The investigation of the case is going on. CBI teams have raided several places in Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai in this regard.
