The London Fire Department said that 10 fire engines and about 70 fire fighting members controlled the fire. The fire in the power station was so fierce that the smoke emanating from it was seen far enough and its pictures were posted on social media. Scottish and Southern Electricity Network, which supplied electricity in this area, said that more than 16,300 houses have been affected due to power cuts. The fire incident occurred at around 11.23 late Thursday night. The cause of the fire is still not clear. The Airport Authority issued a statement stating that the airport will remain closed till 11.59 pm on March 21.
