Brazilian President Lula Da Silva refused to talk to Trump during an event in the capital Brasilia.
Brazilian President Luiz Inecio Lula da Silva has turned down the proposal of US President Donald Trump’s conversation. Trump said on Tuesday, “Lula can talk to me whenever he wants.”
Lula rejected the proposal and said, ‘I will not call Trump to talk on tariff. In return, I would like to interact with leaders like PM Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping.
The US has put 50% tariff on Brazil. Brazil is considering going to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to deal with it.
Lula also said that even though he does not have a conversation with Trump, he will send invitation to Trump at the COP-30 Climate Summit to be held in November.
Trump imposed 50% tariff on Brazil
The US has recently imposed a 50% tariff on Brazil. According to the Trump administration, this tariff has been imposed due to the action being taken against former President Zayar Bolsonaro.
Trump has described the action against Bolsonaro as a replacement.
Bolsonaro is accused of plotting the coup after losing 2022 elections. Due to this, relations between the US and Brazil have worsened.
Bolsonaro is allegedly accused of allegedly trying to try for riots in Brasilia, the Brazilian capital, on 8 January 2023.
Former President Bolsonaro is considered close to America.
Trump’s demand- Bolsonaro’s case ends
Trump said in a statement last month that free election was being attacked in Brazil and the freedom of expression of American people is being controlled. Due to this, 50% tariffs will be imposed on all products coming from Brazil to America from 1 August 2025.
Posting on social media, Trump wrote, former Brazilian President Bolsonaro is a respected leader. The behaving with him is as embarrassing internationally. This case should end immediately.
He also referred to Bolsonaro from participating in the next election on behalf of the Supreme Court of Brazil and also mentioned the censorship orders on Trump’s social media platform Truth Social and Rumble.
There were violent demonstrations after the Bolsonaro defeat in Brazil
In the 2022 presidential election, Bolsonaro’s defeat took place in many places in the country. Bolsonaro’s supporters blocked the roads. About 267 roads were blocked by protesters.
Bolsonaro’s supporters bused the bus during the demonstration in the capital Brazilia.
Outside the police headquarters, protesters set fire to several cars.
Ban on Bolsonaro contesting elections by 2030
