The prosecution alleged that Gaurav Patil (21-year-old) had increased acquaintances from two women on social media between April to October 2023. During the conversation, he shared some information related to ships with them. Later it was discovered that both women were Pakistani intelligence agents, working with false identity.

Gaurav Patil, a victim of Honey Trap: Advocate of the accused

At the same time, Patil’s lawyer Viral Rathore argued that if the social media chat, which has been trusted by the prosecution, then it will be clear that Patil is completely innocent and on the contrary he has been a victim of the honey trap of those two women. These women are also accused in this case. The lawyer said that the information shared by the accused gave it without any wrong intention, because he did not know about the real identity of those women. He considered him only a normal friend on social media and knew nothing about him.

Advocate (Nyaya Mitra) Doraman Dalal, appointed to help the court, said that Patil has no criminal history. He has given full support in the investigation. The charge of criminal conspiracy is a matter of investigation. At the same time, the lawyer of the prosecution party opposed this, saying that this act of the accused went on for more than four months and it has damaged the security and national interest of the country.

After hearing the arguments of all the parties, the court said that sending to jail has many harmful effects on the youth. For this reason, the court believes that a corrective approach should be adopted in the case of punishment, especially when the accused is a youth. In view of the young age of the accused, the court said that sending to jail may have a bad effect on his future and may be less likely to succeed in society, as he may have to face misconduct in jail. Therefore, the court graded him bail, assuming the plea of ​​justice friend.

However, the court also said that this is a classic example of Honey Trap, so that the youth of today should be cautious. The court said, Honey Trap is a confidential method, used in intelligence operations. In this, the person is implicated in sexual appeal or fascination, so that the necessary information can be taken out of it, pressurizing him or used for a particular purpose.
