The security arrangements of Bihar’s prestigious Patna Medical College and Hospital have once again come under question. On Wednesday afternoon, a serious patient admitted to the medicine emergency ward of the hospital died during treatment. After the death of the patient, the family members became angry and started creating ruckus in the hospital. Amidst this commotion, the situation worsened and the family members started arguing with a junior doctor present at the spot. According to eyewitnesses, an army soldier along with the family members of the deceased patient were among those who attacked. The matter became very serious after the fight between the family members and the doctor and then the Junior Doctors Association also stopped the emergency, due to which the problems of other patients and their families have increased.

Doctors are accused of hooliganism
Regarding the incident, the victim’s family member Aman Singh said that his father was admitted to PMCH three days ago due to brain hemorrhage. When the situation became critical on Wednesday morning, his sister asked the doctor to re-check the ECG report. The family alleges that when their sister asked the doctor to re-check the ECG report, the doctor used abusive language towards their sister and said something which displeased the family. When the family protested against the doctor’s indecent language, the male doctor pushed Aman Singh and started beating him. Aman Singh also alleged that his Apple mobile was snatched during the fight. He later came to know that Rs 1 lakh kept in his pocket had also fallen. The family members have also alleged that along with Aman Singh, his two friends were also taken hostage by the junior doctors and beaten up.

Police engaged in investigation
After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the hospital premises. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police of Pirbahor police station immediately reached the spot. The police took the victim’s family, Aman Singh and his associates to the police station, where a written complaint was lodged. At present, Pirbahor police station has recorded the statement of the victim and has started investigating the entire matter. No official statement has come out yet from the hospital administration and junior doctors, but the matter may heat up due to the strict reaction of the Junior Doctors Association.
