On Wednesday, criminals opened fire on former Mokama MLA Anant Singh, who is known as Chhote Sarkar. The incident took place in Nauranga-Jalalpur village under Mokama block of Patna district. Villagers say that Anant Singh was roaming around in Mokama and meeting people. Then suddenly some criminals came there and started firing at them. By then supporters of former MLA Anant Singh also started retaliating. People at the spot say that around 60-70 rounds have been fired from both sides. Police also confirmed the firing and said that some shell casings have also been recovered from the spot. Police say that the notorious criminal Sonu-Monu gang has carried out this incident.

Police from many police stations including DSP arrived

As soon as information about the incident was received, DSP Rakesh Kumar reached the spot. He told that the police have also recovered shell casings from the spot. He told that Anant Singh had a narrow escape in this incident. Police from several police stations are camping in the village. Raids are being conducted to arrest the criminals. At present the entire area has been converted into a police camp.

Was in jail for almost 5 years for possessing AK 47

Anant Singh lived as a convicted prisoner in Beur Jail, Patna for almost 5 years on charges of possessing AK 47. The court had sentenced him to 10 years. Due to this he had to lose the legislature. Then after getting the green signal from the Home Department, Anant Singh was given parole for 15 days. Then he came out of Beur jail in Patna on 5 May 2024. Then Patna High Court acquitted him in two big cases of possessing AK 47 and bulletproof jacket and Anant Singh, former MLA of Mokama, known as Chhote Sarkar, was released from jail on 14 August 2024.
