Day-long protests and blockade took place on Friday over the disposal of 337 tonnes of toxic waste belonging to Union Carbide in Pithampur Industrial Area of ​​Dhar district. Many people even tried to commit suicide. After this, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a high-level meeting late at night, in which Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla, Deputy CM Jagdish Deora, Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Advocate General and Law Secretary were present.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav assured the public that the state government gives priority to their interests and security and hence it has been decided to put the public sentiment before the court. The Chief Minister said that Union Carbide waste will not be burnt in Pithampur until the court order comes. He said, ‘An important meeting was held in Pithampur regarding the confusion being spread on the waste of Union Carbide. All the members present in the meeting are unanimous that our decision is in accordance with the directions of the court and we are also committed to ensure that no harm is caused to the public.

Let us tell you that on Friday people had called for a bandh in Pithampur against the destruction of 337 tonnes of waste by Union Carbide. People protested fiercely and blocked the highway. During this time, stones were also pelted at the police force, after which the police also used mild force.
Amidst all this, two people set themselves on fire and were admitted to the hospital. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the state government transported the waste from Union Carbide Factory to Pithampur Industrial Area only by following the safety standards as per the court order. The court had given a deadline that the waste should be sent to the designated place before January 4. The Chief Minister said that he has taken cognizance of the current situation and in such a situation, if any kind of threat or feeling of fear arises among the public on security parameters, then the state government will try to put this matter before the court. He said that any further action will be taken in this regard only after the court order comes.
