A day before the Rath Yatra in Bangladesh, the case of running a bulldozer at the Durga temple in Khilkhet in Dhaka on 26 June has caught fire. The Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Ekta Parishad has today called for a Bangladesh bandh in protest against the incident. The Bangladesh Hindu Federation informed about the shutdown on Friday.

Demonstrations against the incident took place in several cities of Bangladesh on the day of Rath Yatra on Friday. The country’s minority Hindu community organized a protest and human chain in several districts and universities to protest against the Unus government’s decision to demolish the temple.

At a protest rally held in Dhaka, former President of Hindu Alliance Advocate Gobind Chandra Pramanik said, “Where the temple was demolished, mosques and madrasas are there. Many illegal structures are also present there. In such a situation, the temple and its idols are called illegal, it proves that fundamentalists have entered every corner of this government.

Bangladesh railway officials had run a bulldozer at a Durga temple in Khilkhet in Dhaka on 26 June. Railway officials said that the temple was illegally built on the railway land. Hindu organizations allege that the authorities broke the temple without informing people.

On June 24, the crowd attacked the temple with sticks and sticks The members of the temple committee alleged that more than 500 people attacked the temple with sticks and sticks when the devotees were in the temple when the devotees were in the temple at around 9 pm on Monday (local time). Three days later, railway officials got a bulldozer run at the temple.

The temple committee alleges that railway officials only demolished the temple, while there was all the things around there. Speaking to New Age, the committee’s secretary Arjun Roy said that he had taken permission from railway officials to celebrate Durga Puja and temporarily worship last year.

The idol of the temple was honorablely immersed in the Balu River. However, local eyewitness said that the bulldozers were run directly on the temple and the statue kept in it. There was no immersion of the idol till Thursday night.

India’s Foreign Ministry has strictly criticized Bangladesh’s Interim Younus Government, stating that the incident reflects a serious lapse in the safety of religious minorities.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday that we have received information that extremist groups were demanding to demolish the Durga temple in Kheelkhet. But instead of protecting the temple, the interim government dropped it as an ‘illegal construction’. This caused damage before removing the idol.

Jaiswal clearly stated that it becomes the responsibility of the Government of Bangladesh to protect Hindus, their religious beliefs, assets and places of worship. India has been talking on this issue for a long time. India is serious about the fact that such incidents are happening frequently in Bangladesh.
