Tamim Iqbal Retirement: Former Bangladesh cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal has announced his retirement from cricket. Tamim was the player who scored the most runs and played the most century innings for Bangladesh in international cricket. He scored more than 15,000 runs and 25 centuries in his career. When Champions Trophy 2025 was approaching, his sudden decision of retirement is really shocking. He told through a social media post that the cricket chapter in his life has ended.
Tamim Iqbal shared a post on Facebook, in which he wrote, “I have been away from international cricket for a long time. This distance cannot be erased now. My chapter in cricket has now ended. I am very sad about this.” I was thinking since the Champions Trophy was coming closer, but I don’t want to distract the team by getting into discussions again.”
Let us tell you that Tamim Iqbal had initially announced his retirement from cricket in the year 2023, but the very next day he changed his mind on the call of the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Tamim was not given a place in the 2023 World Cup squad, while the then team captain Shakib Al Hasan had termed his action as ‘childish’. This week, Tamim Iqbal met the selectors, who wanted to include him in the Champions Trophy squad. Current captain Nazmul Shanto had also requested Tamim to come back.
Tamim Iqbal said that his time in Bangladesh cricket team is over and now it is time to retire. He is currently playing in Bangladesh Premier League. He is the captain of Fortune Barishal team and his team is currently placed second in the points table.
