Festival season in India is always considered a special time for automobile companies. This time, i.e. in October 2025, the sales of two-wheelers left all expectations behind. The special thing is that this time the maximum shine was seen in the electric two-wheeler segment. More than 1.44 lakh electric scooters and motorcycles were sold in the country in a single month, which is a new record for the EV industry. Although this increase was only 2% in annual comparison, the month-on-month growth reached 38%.
Bajaj Auto wins, becomes number 1 brand
- Bajaj Auto’s performance has been the biggest surprise this time, Bajaj has left behind giants like TVS and Ather Energy. The company achieved the top position in the market by selling 31,246 units of its Chetak Electric Scooter. These sales were approximately 12 thousand units more than in September 2025, due to which Bajaj got a monthly growth of 59%. According to year-on-year figures, a 10% jump was recorded in the company’s sales. The increasing demand for Chetak has made it clear that customers are now increasingly leaning towards premium and reliable EV scooters.
Tough competition between TVS and Ather
- TVS Motor Company lagged behind Bajaj by a small margin, which sold 29,515 units of electric scooters in October. Although there was a slight decline in annual sales, the month-on-month growth was 31%. This means that the company’s flagship model TVS iQube is again gaining hold in the market. Ather Energy, which was ranked third, also made a great comeback. The company sold 28,101 units, which is 73% more than last year. The company’s market share increased significantly due to the new Ather 450 Apex and Rizta models.
Ola Electric’s decline and Hero Vida’s entry
- Ola Electric, which was once called the king of the electric scooter market, has now come to fourth place. The company sold only 16,036 units in October. Although this shows an increase of 20% compared to September, there was a huge decline of 62% in annual sales. On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp’s electric brand Vida performed better by selling 15,952 units and made it to the top 5.
Impact of new and emerging companies
- Companies like Greaves Electric Mobility, Bgauss Auto, Pure EV and River Mobility have also made their mark in the market with their performance. Greaves Electric sold more than 7,600 units thanks to the Ampere series, while new players like Pure EV and River Mobility recorded growth of more than 300% year-on-year.
