Ashoka University Professor Ali Khan in Supreme Court Kapil Sibal CJI Gavai Says Matter to Be Hear on 20 or 21 May | ‘There was a patriotic post and arrested’, Sibal said to the professor who posted on Operation vermilion, CJI said

Associate Professor Ali Khan of Ashoka University has reached Mahmudabad Supreme Court. He had posted a post on social media about Operation Sindoor, after which he was arrested on Sunday (May 18, 2025). On behalf of Ali Khan, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal put the case in front of Chief Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gawai. CJI Gawai has given assurance of hearing in a day or two.

Based on the Facebook post of the professor of Ashoka University, 2 FIRs have been registered in Sonepat, Haryana. On Sunday, the lower court sent him to 2 days police custody.

Keeping the matter on behalf of Ali Khan, Sibal claimed that there was no anti -national thing in his post. Sibal said, ‘He has been arrested for a patriotic post. I request that the matter be immediately put up for hearing.

Chief Justice BR Gawai assured Sibal to hear soon. The Chief Justice said that this petition will be listed for hearing on Tuesday or Wednesday.
