- Arjun, Praggnanandhaa And Harikrishna To Play Tie break In Round 4 Of Chess World Cup

Indian Grandmasters Arjun Erigaysi, R Praggnananda and P Harikrishna have made it to the tie-break after drawing the second game of Round-4 of the Chess World Cup on Wednesday. Whereas, Junior World Champions V Pranav and V Karthik are out of the tournament.
Arjun, Praggnananda and Harikrishna will have to win the tie-break to reach the next round of the tournament being held in Panaji, Goa.

- Errigassi saved time in the early moves with the white pieces, but Leko defended well. Erigaysi swapped queens on move 20. But it was of no use. Leko said- ‘The line was safe, the positions remained equal, pressure was created due to Erigassi’s fast moves.’
- Praggnananda also seemed satisfied with the result of the draw. They will also have to play with black pieces in the first game of the tie-break. Harikrishna faced pressure in the beginning while playing with white pieces, but remained patient till the end and got a draw in the endgame of bishop and pawn.
- Errigassi finished the match tied with Hungary’s Peter Leko in 36 moves. Praggnanandhaa finished the game with Russia’s Daniil Dubov in 30 moves, while Harikrishna, despite being in a difficult position, managed to draw in 38 moves.
Pranav and Karthik are out after losing World junior champion V Pranav was out of the tournament. He was defeated by Nodirbek Yakuboev of Uzbekistan in 38 moves and won by a margin of 1.5-0.5. V. Karthik was also eliminated after losing. He was defeated by Le Quang Lim of Vietnam 1.5-0.5.

Martínez is the first player to reach pre-quarterfinals Mexico’s José Eduardo Martínez Alcantara became the first player to reach the pre-quarterfinals. He won with the black pieces and drew in 20 moves by quickly repeating the moves 3 times. Martínez will now face the winner of the match between Harikrishna and Nils Grandelius of Sweden. 2-time champion Levon Aronian also advanced to the next round. He won the match against Radoslaw Woytasek of Poland by playing a draw in 35 moves.
