AIMIM leader Waris Pathan scolded Nitish Kumar and said, ‘Even a father does not have the right to…’

AIMIM has reacted strongly to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s attempt to remove the hijab of a Muslim woman. AIMIM leader Waris Pathan has strongly condemned it citing the Constitution and raised serious questions on the safety of girls in Bihar.

He said that India is not a Hindu nation, this country is run by the Constitution and every citizen here has the freedom to practice his religion and dress. Describing this incident as a serious issue related to the respect of women, he has demanded an unconditional apology.

Even a father does not have the right to do this – Waris Pathan

AIMIM leader Waris Pathan said that India is everyone’s country and no one here has the right to put a hand on any woman’s burqa or hijab. He said in clear words that even a biological father does not have the right to do this, then how can the Chief Minister do this. According to him, India has nothing to do with what is happening in other countries, the country should run according to its constitution and laws.

Reference to the Constitution and Supreme Court

Waris Pathan said that Article 25 of the Indian Constitution gives every citizen the right to practice his religion and Article 19 guarantees a person’s freedom of choice. He reminded that the Supreme Court has also given a clear opinion on this subject. Despite this, the Constitution and the decisions of the judiciary are being ignored, which is extremely worrying. He said that hijab and burqa are a symbol of respect, dignity and honor of women and removing them forcibly is an insult.

Hijabi daughters are not safe – Waris Pathan

Waris Pathan said in a statement given to ANI, “Today we came to know that it was Dr. Nusrat who had gone to get the certificate. She said that I don’t want to do a job, I will go to Kolkata, I don’t want to live in Bihar, so was the government putting Rs 10,000 in the account, was it putting it for this reason? What will people do in a state where our Hijabi daughters are not safe, tomorrow anyone will do the same thing on the road. What example are they setting? Nitish Kumar? That’s why we have said that Nitish Kumar should apologize to the women of the entire country.”
